In May, 12 UT Austin students traveled to Prague as part of the inaugural Nuclear Digital Twin and Reactor Lab study abroad program, led by Senior Research Scientist Ondrej Chvala. Through hands-on research reactor training and classroom learning, students gained practical skills, real-world insights and professional perspectives that will benefit their future careers in the nuclear industry.

The group explored several cultural and technical sites throughout the Czech Republic and Vienna, including the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), before completing an intensive reactor physics course that featured experiments on a pool-type research reactor.

In addition, Professor Kevin Clarno met with leaders from the Czech Technical University to discuss opportunities for continued research collaboration.
